Women in Construction: Patty Harney
Say hello to Patty Harney, Service Manager!
During International Women’s Month, we wanted to feature one of our most knowledgeable women in the construction industry. Patty has been with Hugg & Hall for nearly 20 years and has a wealth of knowledge about construction and material handling equipment! Recently she was promoted to Springdale’s Equipment Service Manager.
Patty is an NWA native who lives in Hogeye, a small community outside of Prairie Grove. She grew up in the material handling industry. She said, “When I was a kid, my parents owned a forklift shop in Springdale. I used to ride my bike and scooter around the parts warehouse and repair shop after school!”
Patty’s tenure as Springdale Service Manager
Now, as Service Manager, Patty is over her own shop and keeps things running smoothly every day. She’s a hands-on boss and manages a team of over 35 technicians and administrators to keep NWA’s equipment up and running. From answering calls to assisting her team, she does it all! Patty said:
I’ve learned over the last few months that as a service manager, no two days are ever the same. Some days I may be helping customers, some days I may be helping technicians, and some days I may be taking out trash and sweeping the floors. It’s actually one of the best things about my job because I never get bored!
Before she started as Service Manager, Patty witnessed the growth and changes our NWA market has experienced. It even led to her favorite memory of working at Hugg & Hall: the branch’s gigantic open house following the branch moving to Tontitown. She fondly remembers watching excavator operators from different companies—with Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville, and others represented—show off their skills during excavator skill games.
On any given day, Patty can be a hard woman to track down, because she’s always helping someone out. That’s earned her a great reputation as a boss and an employee. Still, she’s humble about her status. She told us, “My favorite thing about working at Hugg and Hall is the people and the relationships I’ve developed over the years with the employees here, as well as our customers.”
