Employee Spotlight: Rental Sales Manager, Conner Tujague

As the Hugg & Hall Broussard Rental Sales Manager, Conner Tujague helps his team with everything from making the sale to finding the equipment the customer needs. We got in touch with him to learn a little bit more about his role and his favorite things about working for Hugg & Hall.

Where is your hometown?

I grew up in the small town of Eunice, LA where rice and crawfish farming is the way of life for most citizens.

How long have you been at Hugg & Hall?

I have been with Hugg & Hall for a little over two years.

What is your favorite thing about working for Hugg & Hall?

My favorite thing about working at Hugg & Hall is the culture. You have the freedom to choose your work style, which brings out the best in you.

Do you have a favorite memory of your time here at Hugg & Hall?

One of my favorite memories here at Hugg & Hall is when I took a trip to Miami for The Natural Disasters Expo. I learned a lot about natural disaster needs. Free time allowed me to go site seeing as this was the first time I traveled to Miami.

Tell us a little bit about what a day in the life of a Rental Sales Manager looks like.

As a Rental Sales Manager, I receive a lot of calls needing assistance from my sales team. I don’t mind though because I truly like helping people out. A lot of this involves helping my team close on deals and find new opportunities.

What is something that people you work with may not know about you?

I like to play competitive sports. Tennis is my favorite and I played it throughout my childhood and into high school. It’s hard to have time to play now with family and work taking up most of my free time but I plan on teaching my kids when they are older. I tried introducing them to the game, but they end up playing on the playground.

Tell us your favorite quote and what it means to you.

My favorite quote is “No Pain, No Gain”. I believe nothing great in life comes easy. You must work hard and go through trials and tribulations to achieve greatness. Nobody has ever said the journey to the top of the mountain was easy, but there is a lot of lessons to learn on the way up and you will appreciate the top that much more.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

First and foremost, I don’t consider Hugg & Hall being work. I was always told to find something you love to do, and you will never work a day in your life. I truly enjoy my time at Hugg & Hall. Besides my time at Hugg & Hall, I spend it with my family. I am married to my high school sweetheart who which we have three daughters and a baby on the way (Praying for BOY). My daughters love to spend their time outside. Whether it be swinging and riding bikes or swimming at our neighborhood pool.

Fort Smith Arkansas: Mars Petcare Expansion Project

Fort Smith, AR

Beginning May, 2021, Hugg & Hall started work with contractors on the the Mars Petcare Plant expansion in Fort Smith, AR. Mars Petcare Associates began work on the multi-million dollar expansion to their wet food plant located in Chaffee Crossing, adding 200,000-square-feet.

The project, which started in January 2021, is scheduled for completion of its current phase in the beginning of 2023.  With the addition of two production lines, they expect to increase the production capacity by more than 40%.

Hugg & Hall is working directly with contractors pulled in from across the country for this project, renting out well over 150 pieces of equipment to complete the job. Outside Rental Salesman, Kevin Lea, says, “This is easily one of the largest projects Hugg & Hall has had the pleasure to be a part of in many years here in Fort Smith.”

“I expect to see us on site with more major projects in the near future,” says Lea. “With expansions in production facilities in Chaffee Crossing, it’s not hard to see why.”

The 48-acre Fort Smith plant has plenty of room to continue to expand as work begins on “phase 3” in 2023.

Why expand?

Mars Petcare says that over the past year (due in part to people staying home and getting more pets), the demand for wet pet food has risen nearly 18%. The two expansions at the Fort Smith plant are expected to grow this location’s production capacity by more than 75%.

“At Mars Petcare, everything we do is in service of our purpose: A Better World For Pets,” said Ikdeep Singh, Regional President of Mars Petcare North America. “Pet parents are at the center of everything we do, and at Mars Petcare, we’re committed to answering their evolving needs as a trusted partner for pet parents.”

“The role of pets in our lives has grown even stronger during the pandemic, and our latest investment in Fort Smith enables us to deepen our commitment to our Associates and the City of Fort Smith.”

MARS is Going Green

The Fort Smith facility, which first opened in 2009, was the first sustainable manufacturing facility in Arkansas and the first sustainable pet food manufacturing facility in the world. It is LEED-Gold certified by the United States Green Building Council.

Hugg & Hall worked directly with contractors to ensure they meet this high standard for eco-friendly building. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the nationally-accepted benchmark in the U.S. for designing, constructing and operating green buildings.

The wet pet food factory achieved gold certification for its efforts such as recycling water, reduction of energy use and protection against light pollution and soil erosion.

4 Ways Utility Services Can Help You This Summer

How Utility Services Can Help You This Summer

We are officially in the peak of summer: it’s hot, humid, and some of us are in the midst of hurricane season. Luckily, Hugg & Hall’s Utility Services division is here to help! They rent and sell portable power, power distribution, compressed air, and supplemental HVAC units.

Portable Power

Whether your team is dealing with power outages, natural disasters, or post-sundown work, we can provide the right generator to fit your needs. Hugg & Hall has portable and towable generators with gasoline and diesel options. We have light towers, cabling, and distribution boxes to keep your operation moving forward.

Climate Control

To make your next event or jobsite more comfortable, you may need additional air conditioning. Our wide range of rental units produce minimal noise and have a compact carbon footprint.

Paired with our fleet of dehumidifiers and industrial fans, our climate control solutions can prevent condensation to keep materials dry and promote drying in flooded areas.

Air Compressors

Hugg & Hall Utility Services has the best air compressors in the business available for rent! These tools are ideal for jobsites and sought-after in a wide range of industries. Towable or portable compressors provide the power for air tools, such as pavement breakers and chipping hammers. We also offer instrument-quality, filtered and cooled air compressors for specialized applications.

Offshore Equipment

Take Hugg & Hall equipment on any offshore jobsite. All equipment undergoes an enhancement process to ensure long-lasting, offshore-proven durability. The fleet includes light towers, welders, air compressors, pipe threaders, and pumps.

Key components are coated to prevent corrosion and equipped with Coast Guard-approved fuel lines. Skid mounts have up-to-date certifications and are installed with static grounds and extra grounding in engine-driven equipment. All welding machines are load-bank tested, engine driven units are equipped with overspeed and rig air shutdown devices, and air compressors and volume tanks have up-to-date safety relief valve certifications.

Skyjack Lift 3219 | Common Errors & Quick Fixes

In this video, our Rental Equipment Shop Technician Nick Chaney addresses some common errors & quick fixes you might encounter when working with our 3219 Skyjack lift!
If you’re still experiencing technical issues troubleshooting a Skyjack 3219, please contact our service department. We would be happy to assist you!

TRANSCRIPTION

Hey, I’m Nick Chaney with Hugg & Hall Equipment out of Springdale, Arkansas. Today I’m going to go over common errors and common problems on a 3219 Skyjack Scissor Lift.

First off, we’re going to start with no power, if you get to the machine and it’s not coming on or anything.

You’ve got two E-stops, one in the platform and one in the base. You want to turn it on, but you want to have both on at the same time.

Make sure your key switch is in the right position, and also, you’ve got a battery safety switch you want to make sure that is on also.

That pretty much solves your power issues. You’ll have a red light right here that tells you that it’s on. You can kind of function test it, make sure it works.

With that, sometimes you get a common problem where it won’t lift. You can hear it trying to lift but it doesn’t lift. Sometimes it’s the valve right here, the safety valve. But it will get opened up, and it will cause the lift not to go up.

If it’s not driving, you’ve got a switch right here that if it gets opened up if it won’t drive. So you want to close those up. Normally that will solve your problem.

Also, another problem is you’ve got this connector hook right here. If you’re in rain, if you’re in water, any kind of precipitation, sometimes water will get in there. You just want to unplug it, kind of rinse it, blow it out, and plug it back in. Sometimes that will solve your issue right there.

Those are pretty much the basic problems and common calls we get for units out on the jobsite. If there is anything else and you are still having problems, go ahead and give your local Hugg & Hall a call. We can get someone out, or we can get it picked up and brought to our shop and get it fixed.
